Volta ao Algarve
The Algarve in Portugal is the place to be in the spring! It is a true cycling paradise! Delicious temperatures and nice quiet roads. The Volta ao Algarve takes you on a bike ride from Spanish border across the Algarve to the most south-western point of Europe, the Cabo de Sao Vincente, known for its 60 meter high cliffs. The box-set Volta ao Algarve consists of 8 DVDs and has a total length of 588 kilometers. The trip contains 8700 altitude meters. The Algarve is almost nowhere flat. The total route contains two long climbs. The first one is in the third stage to the Alcaria do Cume. The second one in stage 5 takes you to the “roof” of the Algarve: Mount Foia (902 meters). A beautiful climb that starts in the quaint town of Monchique.
